1957

Born in Amsterdam, NL.

1982 - 1998

Works as a teacher of English.

1982 - present

Extensive travels through large parts of the world, among them India, U.S.A, Myanmar (Birma), Europe, in order to photograph.

1984

Finishes a photographic education in the Netherlands.

1989

Solo-exhibition in gallery Portfolio in Antwerp (B).

1992

Sells a series of his pictures made in Carrara (I) to the 'Prentenkabinet' (national collection) in Leiden (NL).

1992

Produces a series of cityscapes in Antwerp, commissioned by 'Antwerpen '93'. Big exhibition in St. Felix in Antwerp. All photographs were made using 11x14" and 12x20".

1991 - 1993

Extensive travels through the USA; meets Michael A. Smith, whose knowledge of large-format photography has great influence.

1996 - heden

Starts working as printer for the Nederlands Fotomuseum in Rotterdam.

2000

Leads a workshop together with Burkhardt Kiegeland, founder of Lotus View Camera in Austria; simultaneously exhibits his photographs in the Lotus Galerie in Austria.

2000

Makes a series of panoramic photographs of landscapes around Amsterdam, commissioned by the 'Raad voor de Monumentenzorg' in Amsterdam. The work is published in a book called "Gespaard Landschap" (Saved Landscapes).

2001

Sells 7 big enlargements to the 'Museum voor Fotografie' in Antwerp (B).

2001 - 2002

Commission for a series of documentary photographs called "The importance of water in the (changing) landscape of the Ooijpolder and the Over-Betuwe".

2003

Groupexhibition in Photomuseum Amsterdam (FOAM) called "Panorama Amsterdam 1862-2003".

2003

Groupexhibition in 'Museum Het Valkhof', Nijmegen (NL).

2004

Opening website www.hansbol.com.

2004

Sets up a publishing-house called 'Recto Verso' (see above).

2004

Publication of the book "Het Formaat van Waterland (Waterland Images)".

2005

Participant in groupexhibition "Polder" in the Netherlands Fotomuseum at Rotterdam.

2008

Participant in "Museumnacht Rotterdam", exhibition "De Andere Hand".
